Spiritual warfare is a topic of immense importance to all believers. Like it or not, the day we accepted Christ, we stepped into a colossal universe-wide war that has been raging ever since the day that Satan and his angels chose to rebel against God Almighty. We do not have a choice in the matter: burying our heads in the sand will not make the conflict go away, and we do not have the ability to individually opt out.
Therefore, it is imperative that we understand what we are involved in and how to carry out our part effectively, without getting ourselves destroyed in the process. This series will by no means be a complete guide to spiritual warfare. However, I do hope to point out some things I have learned along the way, both from the Word of God and experience. As usual, I will be coming from an intercessor’s perspective.
Spiritual warfare, if done appropriately and with wisdom, will result in the establishment of elements of God’s Kingdom here on earth. If done inappropriately, those involved can inadvertently bring physical, emotional, and spiritual harm upon themselves. We need to walk in wisdom, especially the wisdom that God has given us in His Word.
Topics to be covered in this series:
1.) Warring from a position of light
2.) Addressing spiritual beings
3.) The weapons of our warfare
4.) Additional wisdom in spiritual warfare
There is little room for ignorance in spiritual warfare. We must be trained as good soldiers for the battles we will face:
No man who wars entangles himself with the affairs of this life, so that he may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier. And if a man strives for masteries, yet he is not crowned [the victor] unless he strives lawfully [according to the rules]. … Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things. – 2 Timothy 2:4, 5, 7
